Our Intermediate level course will enhance your skills of working with glass, giving you more confidence and skill. You will be supplied with everything you need to begin working with the "Tiffany" style, using copper foil. This level is designed to hone your skills and develop your confidence. You will work on a panel of your own choosing, and learn how to complete a panel within specific dimensions.
At the Intermediate level, you will quickly become able to work with glass, in the Tiffany method, while being limited to a specific dimension. By staying within these parameters, you will gain the skills necessary to complete a finished panel that will fit into a wooden frame, old window frame, existing windoww within your home.
Your skills will be enhanced on becoming confident for which piece in your panel needs to be adjusted, and making cuts more accurate, to make your seams more fluid. Soldering longer lines will become easier, as you practice control over the soldering iron. You will learn what hinging means, and how to avoid it, as well as problem solving, pattern alterations, and reinforcing.
We encourage you to Google search for Free Intermediate Stained Glass patterns that may interest you, but it is not necessary, as we have dozens of patterns on hand in the shop. You are not limited to begin with 3-5 pieces for a project, some students are crafty enough that they jump right into patterns with more pieces. Doing so will simply take a class or two to complete this one project.
CLOTHING: Please ensure you are wearing comfortable closed toe shoes, and long pants. Glass fragments manage to get into the oddest of places, and we guarantee you do not want any in your foot. Long pants protect you from glass, solder and chemicals. We do not advise extremely loose clothing, but please be comfortable.
Students MUST be a minimum of 18 years old.
